Guitar Hero Metallica Song List

Guitar Hero: Metallica was a very highly anticipated game since before it was even officially announced. The thought of having so many great Metallica tracks, plus tracks that inspired the band on a single game made many players excited.

When the full-soundtrack was announced, there were a few tracks that fans were clamoring for that didn’t make it; but all in all, it was generally a consensus that Neversoft did an outstanding job choosing tracks from the Metallica catalog. It is notable that Metallica’s “One” and “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead are reappearances from past Guitar Hero games.

In addition to the 28 tracks from Metallica’s discography, Lars Ulrich and the rest of Metallica also chose 21 tracks from bands they felt were important to the evolution of Metallica to appear in Guitar Hero: Metallica. Originally, Ulrich wanted Slayer’s well-known track “Angel of Death”, but due to the context of the track being about the Holocaust, the developers asked Ulrich to reconsider his Slayer choice. Ulrich eventually decided on “War Ensemble”. Ulrich also requested a track from Mercyful Fate, but due to unusable master tracks, the band actually reunited to do re-records of “Evil” and “Curse of the Pharaohs”. Ulrich and the developers decided that “Evil” would be a better fit for the game in terms of gameplay.
